Exciting Career Opportunities with KIM Inc.!
What is the Minoayawin Mobile Outreach Program (MMOP)?
Keewatinohk Inniniw Minoayawin Inc. (KIM Inc.) is proud to introduce the Minoayawin Mobile Outreach Program (MMOP), a transformative initiative dedicated to enhancing the well-being of unhoused residents in Thompson and surrounding First Nation communities. The MMOP offers trauma-informed, low to no barrier health care, grounded in anti-Indigenous racism approaches that honor and validate Indigenous ways of knowing. Our goal is to promote physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing while ensuring respect and dignity for all community members.
The program addresses the unique healthcare challenges faced by First Nations people in Canada, highlighted by tragic events such as the deaths of Brian Sinclair in 2008 and Joyce Echaquan in 2020. Through extensive community engagements in Thompson and other northern locations, KIM Inc. identified the healthcare needs of community members experiencing challenges. This led to a successful provincial funding grant for a mobile outreach van to serve the Thompson region.
The MMOP is a bundle of services designed to provide comprehensive care to unhoused residents, ensuring they receive the support they need in a respectful and dignified manner.
