Appointment of new Interim Chief Executive Officer

Board Announcement

The Board of Directors of Keewatinohk Inniniw Minoayawin Inc. (KIM) is announcing the appointment of Michelle Monkman as Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective February 2, 2026, for a four-month term.

This appointment follows the unexpected passing of our fearless Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Barry Lavallee. His leadership, vision, and commitment to First Nations-led health transformation have left a profound and lasting impact on KIM and the communities we serve. He is deeply missed.

This interim appointment ensures continuity of leadership and organizational stability during this time of loss and transition. Michelle will work closely with the Board, leadership, staff, and partners to support KIM’s ongoing work with care, integrity, and respect for Dr. Lavallee’s legacy.

We thank our staff, partners, and the First Nation communities we support for their compassion, professionalism, and continued dedication. Further updates will be shared as appropriate.
