Positon Overview:
The KIM team invites applicants to apply for an exciting opportunity to lead our Mobile Outreach Program as the Director, Mobile Outreach. This role is responsible for program development and implementation, and the overall quality, improvement, and enhancement of services. The Director, Mobile Outreach will implement and advance Primary Care, Harm Reduction services and Wellness initiatives for the unhoused relatives within Thompson and potentially outlying First Nations communities. The successful candidate will provide guidance, support, clinical supervision, and oversight to staff working in KIM’s Mobile Outreach Van.
This role is integral in maintaining a welcoming and safe community space, fostering wellness within the multidisciplinary team of Knowledge Keepers, Peer Support Workers, Outreach Workers, BSW’s, and MDs RNs/LPNs and is responsible for the administrative needs of the team, including budget management, human resources, and financial management.
Preference will be given to a candidate who is able to speak one of the northern First Nations languages and has roots in a northern First Nation community.
Qualifications:
- Understanding the strengths that Manitoba First Nation people possess, and the challenges encountered living in communities impacted by colonial systems.
- Understanding the impacts of First Nations specific racism in health and social services.
- Experience in a community service setting that provides services for First Nation community members and/or communities with multiple barriers to health and wellness equity.
- Related clinical experience with trauma, mental wellness, and substance use with experience of service provision that addresses the multiple needs of First Nation community members and/or communities.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, operation, and evaluation.
- Ability to work with and lead an interdisciplinary team comprised of multiple paraprofessional and traditional experts including Knowledge Keepers.
- Demonstrated experience in working with cross organizational partnerships: developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with a broad range of communities and organizations including the ability to facilitate, collaborate and resolve conflicts.
- Knowledge and/or experience in the area of human resource management, budget and financial reporting and management.

The community members of the northern Manitoba First Nations are the foundation of this new and historic healthcare system. KIM is governed by a three-part structure led by First Nations, which includes:
- 6 Caucuses representing 23 First Nation communities
- Keewatinohk Inniniw Okimowin Council (KIOC) – Members appointed by each Caucus
- Board of Directors – appointed by KIOC
KIM Inc. supports health and wellness services for 23 First Nation communities in northern Manitoba, focusing on:
- Equitable Care: Ensuring all community members receive fair and adequate healthcare services.
- Addressing Racism: Actively working to eliminate racism within the healthcare system.
- Responsiveness to Emerging Needs: Adapting quickly to new health challenges and needs within the communities.
- Filling Gaps in the Healthcare System: Providing services and support where current systems fall short.
